Moving isn't always something everyone enjoys participating in; it's fun to get a new house, but in order to get there, you have to pack, lift, stack, and move all your worldly possessions. If you're struggling to get motivated, it's time to make your move into a game that you'll love playing. Here are three ways you can make your move more fun. 

It's All About Timing

One fun way to pack more is to do so in short bursts. With your family, set up a box for each person (or as many as need to be filled for today). Now, set a timer for a certain length of time; five, ten, or even 20 minutes is just long enough to make the game fun without becoming boring. 

Once the timer is set, start it and start packing. Whoever fills up their box first wins the round and gets a prize. Some ideas for prizes include choosing dinner for the night, getting to skip the next round of the game, or getting extra time to relax. 

You're the Movers and the Shakers

If packing needs to be done accurately but seems boring when you want to get down to it, try making it more fun with music. Packing to music allows you to get into the beat of the music, so you can focus on singing or dancing while you pack more than the task at hand. By taking your mind off what you're doing, you'll get more done without the boredom that can come with it.  If you need to limit your time packing, consider making a mixed CD or MP3 playlist with an hour or two of your favorite songs. Then, when it's over, you'll know you're done packing for the day.

How Rewarding Moving Can Be

For some people, the only way to be motivated is to have a reward at the end of the process. If you're one of those people, consider rewarding yourself every time you pack a room, a few boxes, or even a single box if you're struggling to get done. You could choose to put a dollar in a fun fund for every box you pack, or choose to order takeout for dinner if you pack a room. Whatever you enjoy doing, make it a reward for doing this chore, and you'll be sure to get more done.
